I saw this cutie on Pinterest recently and it inspired me…..

Once again this was followed by a trip to Hobby Lobby, where as luck would have it they were having a 50% off sale on all of their Paper Studios products. This package of 4 burlap banners was normally $2.49 so only $1.25 on sale….that’s the kind of price I like, so I bought 2 of them!!  You would think I have stock in that place or something, but I really don’t….I promise!!

The stencils were not on sale, but of course I had my 40% off coupon on my Hobby Lobby App so it went from $3.99 to $2.39.

I already had some black acrylic paint, a sponge brush, and some twine so I was in to this project for less than $5.00.

Once I got home and started rooting through some of the leftovers from The Hub’s 50th Birthday Party last November I also discovered that I still had some little squares of this polka dot burlap so I decided to incorporate it as well.

I didn’t think the lettering would show up well against the polka dots so I made 2 different banners and then overlapped them a bit when I put them up.  Painting the letters on the plain burlap could not have been easier.  I just put a tiny bit of paint on a paper plate, put the stencil where I wanted it and then used the sponge brush to dab on the paint.

Then I just used the biggest needle I had and stitched them together with the twine using  a running stitch…I think that is what it is called anyway.  I tied a knot at both ends to keep them from coming off and there you have it.

IMG_3751I’ll share more with you about the burlap topiary on Thursday.  It is another left over from the big 5-0 party decorations.  I put the first banners on the window box outside of my kitchen.  I decided I liked it so much and I still had plenty of supplies so I made another for inside on the floating shelves between my dining room and living room.

Have a Great One All!!

Patty  🙂
