My latest addiction is Blanket Scarves!!! I was a bit of a slow adopter on this trend as they were everywhere last winter. However, they tend to be pretty pricey…that is until my friend Ashley shared with me the secret of how easy they are to make on your own!!! WHAT!!??!! Well thank you Ash…..now I can’t get enough of them.
They are beyond easy to make and so much cheaper that way. All you need is between 2 and 2 1/2 yards of flannel fabric from the fabric store. Hobby Lobby generally runs it 30% off and you can almost always find a coupon for JoAnne’s for 40-50% off. It runs about $8.99 a yard at both places. The selection at JoAnne’s is by far the best in my area.
Then you just sit yourself down in front of the television or on the sidelines of a soccer or football game while you are “coaching” cheer and fray away. The only trick is to make sure you are starting with a straight cut before you start fraying….figured that one out the hard way!! Because the flannel is full of stripes it is easy to make sure you have a straight cut. I have frayed the edges of mine anywhere from 1-2 inches. It is really up to you and what you like. I have already made 7 or 8 of them. A seem ripper is really helpful for grabbing just 1-2 threads at a time.
Pinterest is full of great tutorials for making these….just type in Blanket Scarf DIY and you will have plenty to choose from.
If you are on my Christmas List you are probably getting one!! I sent one to each of my 4 college cheerios and they all seem to love them. I also gave them to my 2 Senior Soccer Cheerios as their Senior Gift from me.
Here are some of my outfit and DIY Pinsperations…..

The one I made for myself I took to my local Sporting Goods Store where I get all of the t-shirts and things made for cheerleading and they monogrammed it for me. It was a little pricey at about $13 but it looks super cute. I will probably go a bit smaller the next time.

I got this one for free with a purchase from Monday Dress. I love the colors….
Just looking at these pics makes me want to go apple picking, to the pumpkin patch or Starbucks or something…I am such a dork about Fall!!!
Have a Great One All!!
