The last day of Parent-Teacher Conferences for the school year was Tuesday which meant 2 things….#1…a really long day at work and #2…I had to dress up a bit. Leggings and a tunic seemed like the right combination of pulled together and comfortable for the day. Here is what I went with….
The tunic is from Nordstrom, available in several different color combinations, and on sale at a huge discount right now. I am thinking about the pink and gray stripes version. I have worn it a couple of times and it wears so well…no pilling and it retains it shape in the wash. I also like the little pockets on the front…just a little something fun! The leggings are my favorite Hue extra wide band leggings….great coverage and comfort. I have shared these black riding boots from Old Navy several times and they are totally sold out now. The necklace is the Stella and Dot Rebel Pendant knock-off from Nordstrom….such a great find!! I found the faux-fur scarf at Target before the holidays and I have worn it a few times but for whatever reason I hadn’t done a post with it. I like the extra interest and texture it adds to an outfit. It is still available and on clearance!!
Happy Valentines’ Day! I hope this finds you sharing the day with someone you love. The Hubs and I have a quiet day at home planned. The way to a man’s heart is his stomach….so I am cooking him a yummy breakfast and one of our favorite dinners…roasted chicken with creamy polenta! Yummy!
In the spirit of the holiday I am sharing another outfit with pink….yes I realize there has been quite a bit of pink lately. What can I say….I am dreaming of spring! I wore this outfit two ways…one with a puffer vest and one without.
I paired a newer pink tunic from Nordstrom with a turquoise pendant necklace from Accessory Concierge. They have really fun and interesting pieces. I might have just ordered a really happy set of tassel necklaces. If you haven’t checked them out you really should, but be warned it is hard to look and not buy!! It looks like the tunic is sold out in this color but I provided a link to it in gray…also really pretty. The Belle and Sky Jeans are on sale again so if you have been thinking about them this might be the right time to take the leap. The vest is from Old Navy and also on sale right now, but it is only available in limited sizes this late in the season.
The Hubs did the coolest thing for me as a surprise for Valentine’s Day….he hung a curtain rod in our closet for me to hang my necklaces on since they seem to be multiplying these days. I promise to share all of the details once I finish my 25 Days of Winter Fashion.
We had a game tonight with a bit of a bus ride so comfort was key. It is also bitter cold here right now so layering was the way to go. I went with some of my favorite pieces combined with a newer one.
I pulled out my favorite snuggly cardigan from Barefoot Dreams and paired it with a new long drapey t-shirt from Target. The t-shirt has a handerchief hemline and is available in several colors. It is also 25% off right now so it is a total steal! Wit and Wisdom skinny jeans are a must buy if you don’t already have a pair. Like I have said so many times, they are super comfortable and the fit is great all day long! The Franco Sarto booties are still on sale and also available in black in limited sizes. Sadly, they are sold out in my size….I keep checking back hoping they will be restocked, but I sort of doubt it will happen this late in the season.
Hunter Boots have been all the rage. Sadly…they are not a friend girls with thick calves. The tall ones were totally out of the question so I tried the shorter version and while I was able to get them on they sort of looked like I was oozing out the top of them….NOT a good look! Then during my hours of trolling Pinterest over winter vacation I discovered that they have an ankle height bootie but the colors were very limited. #sadface I mean let’s face it….the colors of Hunter boots is half of the appeal. Much to my delight they also make the ankle height in a children’s version and as fate would have it I read that if you are no larger than a size 8 they will fit……Yahoo!!! It was like the angels sang and the planets aligned all at once! The best part….the children’s sizes are less expensive…who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too!!!
The fair isle sweater is from Loft but it is totally sold out now. The jeans are my trusty Wit and Wisdom skinny jeans…..I can’t believe I haven’t worn them out yet. Needless to say my cost per wear on these babies is next to nothing! The turtleneck has been in my closet for a couple of years and the necklace is from Origami Owl. The Hunter boots are so fun….they have me looking forward to rainy days!! Any excuse to break them out of the closet!
Sorry for the sketchy pics….the Hubs wasn’t home and I just really wanted to put on my sweats and call it a night, so I was on my own. I think it might be time for a tri-pod and a remote for my camera.
I have been wanting to try a pink and camo combination since I found this one on Pinterest.
I love the combination of the masculine camo with super feminine pink. Needless to say, I didn’t try the crazy heels. They are beyond fantastic, but I am a middle school teacher for goodness sake! Here is how I put it together…
To be honest, I am not thrilled with how the booties look with the outfit. Next time I wear these pants with my Tom’s Desert Wedge booties instead….the heel would help for sure. I originally picked up this vest after the holidays at Talbot’s to go with some pink Hunter Boots…sharing those tomorrow….but when I saw the Pinsperation photo I knew I had to try it with my camo pants and I totally love it!! Sadly…it is totally sold out now. The sweater was a steal from Old Navy that I also grabbed in coral…the Queen of Multiples strikes again! The Moto Booties are also from Old Navy and they are not my favorite. I think the front of them fits weird….it sort of buckles on the front of my ankle which makes them look sort of cheap…which of course they were because they were from Old Navy. I love a great deal, but not when it looks like a cheap buy. These are going to be one of the 40 items I put in the donation box for my Lent closet purge! I added my Stella and Dot Rebel Pendant to finish off the outfit.
What are your thoughts??? Pink and Camo…..Hit or a Miss??
I have shared al of these pieces before with the exception of the scarf. It was one that I made before the holidays for gifts that I didn’t end up giving away…Merry Christmas to me! Rather than wrapping it around my neck, this time I wore it draped across my shoulders more like a shawl. I just wanted to do something different and this a heavier flannel so it felt like almost too much wrapped around my neck. The Tunic is from J Crew Factory and it is also available in white. I think the length shrunk up a bit in the wash so I am not sure I can pull this one off with leggings anymore….gotta make sure all of my lady bits are covered! It is going to be super cute this spring though with some white jeans and cute flip flops!! The leggings are the Hue Ultra Wide waste Band ones that I have shared several times, but in brown this time. The boots…which have been my favorites this winter…..look like they are all sold out. I am still sort of wishing I would have grabbed them in black too….of well…I need to start thinking spring anyway!!
I am not sure why I have been dragging my feet so much on these 25 Days of Winter Fashion. Perhaps I am just thinking so much about Spring that I having a hard time with it. However, I started it so I will finish it….promise!! Then I will be sharing all things Cheer Banquet and ideas for Spring Fashion. It has been a really mild winter but I am always ready for Spring!!
I wore this outfit last week on a day when we had Parent-Teacher conferences after school. Working a full day followed by conferences is always such a long day. Because of that I really just want to wear something comfy, but I feel an obligation to look nice. I realize the two are not mutually exclusive, but jeans were totally out of the question…..my principal would not have appreciated my desire for comfort! LOL
I picked up this skirt and sweater right after Christmas on a big sale at Loft. It is still available in very limited sizes.I have worn the sweater a couple of times with jeans, but this is the first time I have worn the skirt. It is a faux wrap skirt with a fun print. It looks like it is totally sold out now….sorry! I have had the turtleneck for at least 6 years so I don’t have a link for that. The suede wedge booties are not Toms but they are very similar. I have the Toms in taupe and I prefer them over these. The necklace is the Stella and Dot knock-off from Nordstrom. I really love it as much as I do the Stella and Dot version that I have in gold.
The top is a super cute black and tan check with the inside of the sleeves and the collar lined in polka dots. I added my black lace trimed cami again. It really only peeked out on the side where the shirt is cut shorter. I wore my Kut from the Kloth skinny jeans from Glamour Farms as well and of course my favorite Franco Sarto booties. Easy, comfy, and pulled together enough for a game.
I really need to stop opening e-mails from Loft…..it too often leads to a purchase that let’s be honest….I really don’t need. That was the case with this anorak sweater. Impulse buying gets the best of me every time and I am a sucker for a cute anorak! I styled this anorak sweater with my favorite camo pants, gray tassel tie booties, and a classic black tee.
To be completely honest, I am not thrilled with the fit of this sweater. The ties on the anorak are on the sides which kept coming untied all day and made me a little crazy because they are hard to tie with them being on the sides. It also hangs sort of droopy in the front at the bottom. I am hoping it will shrink a bit in the wash so the fit will be better…otherwise I am going to wish I would have gone down a size. It is super comfy though and if all else fails it will be great for wearing around the house with leggings on lazy days!
This has been a crazy busy week…3 games and a team dinner along with planning for both try-outs and the Cheer Banquet! I have taken pics, but haven’t had a chance to get the blog posts written. I promise to get caught up this week…Yikes!! I wore this to one of my games this week.
This is a compilation of several of my favorite pieces….my comfy cozy cardigan from the Nordstrom sale, Wit and Wisdom Jeans, Franco Sarto booties, and an older black and tan striped shirt. I added a lace trimmed cami under the striped shirt to give it a little more length and interest. I have this cami in black and cream and both came from Jane.com, but are not available all of the time. It looks like they are there right now though for just $12.99.
I ordered this necklace in silver from Nordstrom….it is very similar to the Rebel Pendant in gold from Stella and Dot that I wear all of the time but at less than half the price. I wasn’t sure I would like it as much, but I am happy to report this is one of those times when the less expensive version is just as great as the original!! The shorter feather necklace came from Alex & Ani. It is similar to one I saw Joanna Gaines wearing on Fixer Upper and I just loved it so I searched the internet for a similar one. I am a little too obsessed with Fixer Upper. #notastalker #justafan Both necklaces are available in silver and gold tones.
